Sandals Resorts Ranked for Honeymoons

Every resort, ranked honestly, by someone who sends couples to them.

Rankings are useful when you are staring at a list of resorts and cannot figure out which one deserves your honeymoon. So here it is. Every Sandals resort, ranked for honeymoons based on romance, beach quality, privacy, and the overall experience couples report back to me after they get home.

Every resort on this list is all inclusive and adults only. The differences come down to what kind of honeymoon you are imagining. Some couples want dramatic scenery. Others want solitude. Some want to be in the middle of everything. This ranking reflects what I hear most often from the couples I work with, year after year.

#1

Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Gros Islet, St. Lucia

This resort earns the top spot because it delivers on every category that matters for a honeymoon. The setting alone is enough. A narrow peninsula surrounded by the Caribbean, with the Piton mountains across the water. The overwater bungalows are the most iconic in the Sandals portfolio, and the butler service in the top suites is genuinely excellent.

Couples who stay here consistently come back saying it exceeded their expectations. The beach is beautiful, the food is strong, and the atmosphere leans romantic without feeling staged. If you are looking for one resort that checks every box, this is the one.

#2

Sandals Grenada

Pink Gin Beach, Grenada

Grenada is the one I wish more couples knew about. Pink Gin Beach is one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the Caribbean, and the resort is small enough that it never feels crowded. The Italian Village suites are gorgeous, the restaurants punch above their weight, and the island itself has a warmth that feels genuine.

This is the resort for couples who define romance as quiet mornings, long dinners, and nobody asking them to join a pool game. It does not try to be everything for everyone. It just does intimate exceptionally well.

#3

Sandals South Coast

Whitehouse, Jamaica

South Coast is the most versatile resort on this list. It has overwater bungalows at a slightly lower price point than St. Lucia. The beach is long and uncrowded. The dining program is among the best in the Sandals collection, and the Dutch Village rooms have a charm that photographs beautifully.

The vibe here is fun without being loud. You will find live music in the evening, a great swim up bar, and enough variety to keep a full week interesting. For couples who want a balance of romance and energy, South Coast delivers that blend better than most.

#4

Sandals Royal Plantation

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Royal Plantation is the smallest property in the Sandals collection with fewer than 80 suites, and that intimacy is its greatest strength. Every room faces the ocean. Every guest gets butler service. The staff learns your name fast and remembers your drink order faster. The cliffs above the beach give the setting a dramatic, old world elegance that bigger resorts cannot replicate.

Royal Plantation guests enjoy exchange privileges with other Jamaica Sandals resorts, including Dunn's River in the Ocho Rios area, with complimentary transfers. That combination of boutique privacy and easy access to more dining and activity options is hard to beat.

#5

Sandals Grande Antigua

Dickenson Bay, Antigua

If the beach is the single most important factor in your honeymoon decision, Antigua wins. Dickenson Bay is widely considered one of the best beaches in the entire Sandals portfolio. The sand is powder soft, the water is that impossible shade of blue, and the resort wraps around it beautifully.

The Mediterranean Village side is where honeymoon couples tend to gravitate. It is quieter, more refined, and the rooms have warm European touches. You also have access to the more social Caribbean Village side whenever you want a change of pace.

#6

Sandals Halcyon Beach

Castries, St. Lucia

Halcyon Beach is the smallest of the three St. Lucia resorts, and that is a big part of what makes it so romantic. The property feels tucked away from everything, with lush garden pathways, a quiet beach, and a pace that lets you actually slow down. There is no massive pool scene here, no entertainment schedule competing for your attention. It is just you, the water, and the kind of stillness that makes a honeymoon feel like a real escape.

The "Stay at One, Play at Three" exchange program with complimentary shuttle service gives you access to La Toc and Grande St. Lucian anytime you want more dining variety or a change of scenery. But most couples who stay here tell me they barely left. The intimacy and the privacy are the whole point, and the price makes St. Lucia possible for couples who thought it was out of reach.

#7

Sandals Saint Vincent

Buccament Bay, Saint Vincent

Saint Vincent is one of the newest Sandals resorts and it appeals to couples who want something the rest of the Caribbean does not offer. The island is volcanic, lush, and largely untouched by mass tourism. Buccament Bay is framed by rainforest covered mountains, and the resort leans into that natural setting.

The Grenadines are nearby for day trips, the black sand beaches have a dramatic beauty, and the overall feel is more adventurous than polished. Couples who would rather kayak through a bay than sit at a swim up bar will connect with this place. It ranks here because it offers a genuinely different honeymoon experience, though it may be too rugged for couples who want a traditional luxury beach resort.

#8

Sandals Dunn's River

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Dunn's River is the pick for couples who want their honeymoon to be an experience, not just a destination. The resort is newer, modern, and well designed, with a river pool that gives the property a feel you do not get elsewhere in the Sandals lineup. The proximity to Ocho Rios means waterfalls, zip lines, and rainforest tours are all within easy reach.

The dining is strong, the rooms are sharp, and the overall atmosphere skews younger and more active. If sitting still for seven days does not sound like your idea of a good time, Dunn's River keeps you moving without ever feeling like you are roughing it.

#9

Sandals Royal Curaçao

Newport, Curaçao

Royal Curaçao is the newest addition to Sandals and it brings something entirely different to the table. The Dutch Caribbean architecture is striking, the two level infinity pool is stunning, and the island itself has a European sophistication that sets it apart from the rest of the Caribbean.

The snorkeling is exceptional, colorful Willemstad is nearby, and because Curaçao sits outside the hurricane belt, it is one of the safest bets for a late summer or fall honeymoon. Couples who have done the Caribbean before and want something fresh will appreciate what this resort offers.

#10

Sandals Negril

Negril, Jamaica

Negril sits on Jamaica's famous Seven Mile Beach, and the beach is the main draw. Long, soft sand, calm water, and sunsets that stop you mid conversation. The resort is mid sized with a relaxed, easy going atmosphere that feels distinctly Jamaican.

This is a strong option for couples who want a beautiful, uncomplicated honeymoon at a price point that does not require a second mortgage. It may not have the overwater bungalows or dramatic scenery of the top ranked resorts, but the beach experience and the laid back pace more than compensate.

#11

Sandals Regency La Toc

Castries, St. Lucia

La Toc has beautiful grounds, sweeping hillside views, and one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean. The property feels spacious and established, with a range of room categories from garden suites to beachfront villas. The beach sits in a sheltered cove, which gives it a more private feel than some of the larger resorts.

For honeymoons, it works well for couples who want St. Lucia at a lower price point than Grande St. Lucian and appreciate having room to explore. All three St. Lucia Sandals resorts participate in a "Stay at One, Play at Three" exchange program with complimentary shuttle service, so you can visit Halcyon Beach or Grande St. Lucian for a change of dining or scenery. If one of you golfs, this moves up the list considerably.

#12

Sandals Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Montego Bay is the original Sandals, and its biggest advantage is convenience. It sits minutes from the airport, which means you are on the beach before most resorts would have you in a transfer van. The overwater bar is a standout feature, and exchange privileges with nearby Sandals Royal Caribbean give you access to that resort's private offshore island and additional restaurants. The property has been refreshed over the years to stay competitive.

It is a solid, well rounded resort, but it is not the most romantic option in the lineup. The atmosphere leans more social, and the proximity to the airport means occasional plane noise. For couples who want an easy, no hassle start to their honeymoon and do not need the most secluded setting, it works well.

#13

Sandals Royal Barbados

Maxwell, Christ Church, Barbados

Royal Barbados is the more polished of the two Barbados properties, with a rooftop restaurant and pool that deliver stunning sunset views. The rooms are well appointed and the overall experience is a step above its neighbor next door.

Barbados is a wonderful island with outstanding food culture and nightlife, but the resort vibe here leans social and lively rather than romantic and secluded. For couples who want to explore the island, eat well, and enjoy a more energetic atmosphere, Royal Barbados works. For quiet, intimate honeymoons, there are better fits higher on this list.

#14

Sandals Barbados

Maxwell, Christ Church, Barbados

Sandals Barbados is modern, energetic, and built for couples who want a social experience. The rooftop pool and bar are highlights, and the dining benefits from Barbados's exceptional food scene. Exchange privileges with Royal Barbados next door expand your options further.

For honeymoons, this is the right pick for couples who define romance as fun together. If you want to dance, eat well, and stay up late, Barbados delivers. Just know the vibe leans party over peaceful, which is why it sits at this end of the ranking for honeymoons specifically.

#15

Sandals Royal Bahamian

Nassau, Bahamas

Royal Bahamian sits on Cable Beach in Nassau with a private offshore island you can reach by boat. The location is convenient, especially for East Coast couples who want a very short flight. The offshore island is a fun perk, and the resort has solid dining and spa options.

For honeymoons, this resort works best as a long weekend or short getaway rather than a full week. The atmosphere is more party oriented than romantic, and Nassau has a livelier, more commercial feel than the other islands on this list. Couples who want nightlife and easy access will enjoy it. Couples looking for seclusion will find better options above.

A Note About This Ranking

These rankings reflect what I hear from couples after they come home, combined with my own firsthand knowledge of each property. Your perfect resort depends on what you value most. If privacy is your top priority, Grenada might be your number one. If you want adventure, Dunn's River moves up the list. If the beach matters more than anything, Antigua jumps to the top.

That is exactly why talking through your specific priorities before booking makes such a difference. A ten minute conversation can save you from spending a week at the wrong resort.
