Best Sandals Resort for Couples

Sandals markets every property as a romantic escape and technically they are all couples only. But couples are not all the same and neither are these resorts. A couple celebrating 25 years of marriage wants something completely different from a couple in their late twenties on their first big trip together. Getting this right matters.
I am Shauna, founder of Beachy Honeymoons and a Sandals specialist. Here is how I match couples to the right property.
If you want romance and drama: Sandals Grande St. Lucian, St. Lucia
St. Lucia is the most visually stunning island in the Sandals portfolio. The resort sits on a peninsula surrounded by water and the island itself is lush, volcanic, and unlike anything else in the Caribbean. This is the resort for couples who want the setting to do the heavy lifting. Overwater bungalows, incredible views, and a destination that feels genuinely special rather than just another beach. If you are celebrating something significant, an anniversary, a milestone birthday, or a honeymoon, this is where I send people.
If you want sophistication and great food: Sandals Royal Barbados, Barbados
Barbados attracts a more discerning traveler and Sandals Royal Barbados reflects that. The dining here is among the best in the entire chain, the property feels polished and grown up, and Barbados as an island has real culture and character beyond the resort gates. Couples who love good food, refined environments, and the option to explore will be very happy here.
If you want something off the beaten path: Sandals Grenada, Grenada
Grenada is quieter, less trafficked, and genuinely beautiful. The resort is newer and well designed and Pink Gin Beach is one of the prettiest stretches of sand in the Caribbean. Couples who want privacy and a more intimate feel without sacrificing the full Sandals experience consistently rank this one among their favorites.
If you want modern luxury and something different: Sandals Royal Curacao, Curacao
Curacao is the newest addition to the Sandals family and it brings a fresh energy. The architecture is bold, the overwater bungalows are among the best in the portfolio, and the island itself is fascinating with crystal clear water and a colorful Dutch colonial capital. Couples who have already done Jamaica or St. Lucia and want something new gravitate here.
If you want seclusion in Jamaica: Sandals South Coast, Jamaica
Jamaica has multiple Sandals resorts but South Coast is the one I recommend for couples seeking quiet. It sits on the southern coast away from the busier tourist corridors and delivers a more private, unhurried experience. The sunsets here are exceptional and the overwater bungalows are a genuine highlight.
If you want lively and social: Sandals Negril, Jamaica
Not every couple wants quiet. Some want energy, a fun beach scene, and a more casual vibe. Negril delivers that. Seven Mile Beach is legendary, the atmosphere is relaxed and festive, and the resort draws a younger, more social crowd. If you and your partner are outgoing and want to meet people and have fun beyond just the two of you, Negril fits that bill.
The honest truth about choosing
The biggest mistake couples make is booking based on price or availability rather than fit. A resort that feels electric to one couple feels overwhelming to another. I ask clients the right questions before recommending anything because getting this wrong is an expensive mistake.
